Using water wisely and efficiently can save you money and lower maintenance costs. Preserving this valuable resource benefits our local economy and the environment.

The City of Tempe is offering Industrial and Commercial water customers in the Tempe Water Service Area, grants to install water saving technologies. Financial incentives will be offered for projects expected to result in significant reductions in water use (15% or more). The Program will target three types of water use: a) Industrial/ Commercial Processes, b) Landscape Changes or Retrofits, c) Cooling Systems.

Representative projects from each area will be selected for funding. The criteria for selection will include the overall amount of water used at the facility and the exploration of water saving technologies. At a minimum the facility will need to reduce its overall water use by 15%.

A final report of the project including all costs, photos and demonstrated savings will need to be delivered to the City representative for final payment. This information will be used to transfer water saving technologies to other similar businesses. Program funds are limited and will be distributed on a first come — first served basis. The City of Tempe supports all water conservation efforts by its customers. This will be an ongoing program component for the City of Tempe Water Conservation Program.

Projects costing less than $10,000 may receive rebates of between 25% - 50% of the total project cost depending upon the amount of sustained savings. Projects that cost more than $10,000 will be eligible for the same percentage of funding with a rebate cap of $20,000 on larger projects.

All industrial and commercial water users in the Tempe Water Service Area may apply for the Water Efficiency Incentives providing they are not installing the measures for Environmental Compliance. Significant water saving opportunities are often found in:

Manufacturing, Hospitals, Hotels and Motels, Office Buildings, Food and Beverage, Laundry Facilities, Golf Courses, Educational Institutions and Other businesses depending on the type and quantity of water use may also benefit.

In addition to the special financial incentives outlined, water conservation results in the decreased consumption of water and the reduction of wastewater discharges. The associated decrease in water and wastewater bills provides an immediate and on-going financial incentive to develop water saving techniques and procedures.
