Library Tours
Tempe Public Library welcomes tour groups of all ages. Library tours are
available upon request for groups of 5 or more, not to exceed 60 participants.
Preschool through Middle School
To schedule tours, contact Youth Services at 350-5522.
Adult, High School, and College
To schedule tours, contact Anna-Marie O'Brien, Adult Services Supervisor, at 350-5553.
Please be ready to indicate organization name, leader's name and phone number, age and
number of participants involved and specific tour desired.
TOURS AVAILABLE:
Preschool & Early Elementary Students receive a 25 minute tour with
emphasis on the youth library. A short discussion about library etiquette and book care
will be followed by a story.
Elementary Age Students receive a 30 minute tour that highlights the
children's area emphasizing its reference and non-fiction collections. Online catalog
basic instruction will be included on this tour.
Middle School Students receive a 45 minute reference tour that details
resources available in the adult and juvenile reference area. Included in this tour is
basic instruction on the online catalog. A visit to the Computer Access Center and
periodical area is included on request.
Tours for Adults, High School and College Students are available for a
specific collection or subject emphasis.
GUIDELINES
- Leaders should be aware of proper library behavior and supervise children accordingly.
We recommend 1 adult per 5 children.
- We recommend brief library visits for younger patrons.
- Please factor in transportation so that the tour will begin on time.
- The length of the tour may be shortened or lengthened depending on the attentiveness of
the participants and the number of questions.
- Please call at least 24 hours in advance if there is a problem and you need to
reschedule your tour.
