Presented annually by the Tempe Community Council, the Don Carlos Humanitarian Award is considered to be one of Tempe’s most prestigious distinctions and honors those individuals who give back selflessly to our community. The Don Carlos Awards are named for Charles Trumbull Hayden, who was Tempe’s founder and its first great humanitarian. Known affectionately as “Don Carlos” by the Spanish pioneers, Hayden was known across Arizona for the assistance he provided to people in need.

2009 Guiding Light Philanthropy Award
Arte Moreno has been selected for exemplifying the spirit of philanthropy through his extraordinary support of the Tempe community
