Rio Salado South Bank Multi-Use Path
- The Rio Salado South Bank
Multi-Use Path Project extends the linear park and pathway system in the
Rio Salado area from Hardy Drive/Tempe Center for the Arts to Priest Drive.
It provides path linkages on the south bank to Priest and Hardy drives,
the Town Lake downstream dam, the Tempe Center for the Arts and other
portions of the Town Lake and Rio Salado Park. The project involved creating
a half-mile concrete, lighted and landscaped path facility with a public art
element. This project was completed in March 2009.
Tempe Canal
Multi-Use Path - The Tempe Canal
Multi-Use Path Project involves the construction of a new ¾ mile long, ten
foot wide concrete path facility, located along the west side of the Tempe
Canal from University Drive and extending south to the Union Pacific
Railroad (UPRR), then west along the UPRR to Price Frontage Road. The
project includes landscaping, a public art element and will be lighted. This
project is currently under construction.
Western Canal
Multi-use Path Project - The city
of Tempe has begun constructing a new bicycle and pedestrian path along the
Western Canal. Click here for a
map of the project area. The project will extend for six miles from
Arizona Mills Mall to Price Road in central Tempe. It will connect parks,
schools, and other destinations in Tempe. The project includes a path with
lighting, landscaping and public art. The public input process began in 2005
and comments were taken through Jan. 2008.
